Rutherford County has experienced unprecedented levels of growth over the last 10-20 years, making some residents of our county very wealthy while leaving others behind.

In 2026, 1 in 5 residents of District 21 still live in poverty, roughly half don’t own their own home, and the per capita income is only $28,109 per year. This isn’t sustainable.

It’s time that the working people of Rutherford County had a fighter in their corner. Let’s build a County that works for the 99% of us, not just corporate developers and landlords.

Meet Ashley

I’m a proud parent, community organizer, union member, and a Murfreesboro native.

Growing up in a union family, I was taught about the importance of solidarity, and the collective strength we have when we join together in our communities for the better.

I believe that everyone in Rutherford County should have affordable access to a good life regardless of your background, and that our county government has the responsibility to ensure that through progressive and efficient economic planning and land use.

That includes safe and affordable housing, access to healthy groceries, roads and sidewalks free of potholes for our families to travel on, the right to pursue a quality education, and public safety that protects all, while not expecting our officers to be a one-size-fits-all solution to every 911 call that comes through.

I’M FIGHTING FOR:

    • Build permanently affordable housing through Community Land Trusts, non-profits designed to keep properties affordable for generations.

    • Lower new home prices and rents through incentives such as expedited permitting and density bonuses for developers who commit to reserving a percentage of units in a development for truly affordable housing.

    • Fight for lower grocery prices with a resolution demanding the Tennessee State Assembly permanently repeal the Grocery Tax.

    • Fully fund public schools, expand Voluntary Pre-K Program, provide free breakfast and lunch for all students, and raise wages across the board for county employees, especially teachers and EMS.

    • Improve government transparency by making all public meeting agendas, notes, and recordings easily and readily available to the public in a timely manner.

    • Expand rural county healthcare services to ensure all residents of Rutherford County have access to basic health and wellness care.

    • Develop viable public transit by partnering with local municipalities to expand and improve connectivity across Rutherford County.

    • Bring a spotlight to corruption, and hold our local government accountable to the public they serve, not to self-serving, ideological, or profit-driven interests. This includes pressuring the Sheriff to end the 287(g) agreement with ICE, as well as firmly opposing any efforts to ban books from the Rutherford County Library System.

    • Stand in solidarity with workers and renters, supporting their right to organize against corporate landlords and billionaire bosses.

    • Give working people a voice in their local government, and champion the everyday person whose labor has made our County what it is today.
